It has been a minute since I have posted.
Things have changed a lot for me.
Here is the update:
I am now in college. Never thought I would be back here. It is a very long story and I don’t really want to relive it, but the short version is: I was in college for a VERY short amount of time in 2001, and I met the love of my life there. I proceeded to chase her and not higher education and never finished college. But, we did get married and are almost to 20 years(!!) which still to this day makes my heart swell. But, I am back in college (20+ years later) and I am almost done with my associates degree, then right to the bachelors.
I also now have a new hobby that I never thought I would have fallen into: Fortnite Creative. I am not even sure how it happened, but my wife one day said she wanted to make her own Fortnite creative map and publish it to the world. My wife is the artistic one, and had a vision, but I was roped into helping on the programming side. So between the two of us, we joined the Fortnite Creator program and launched OutsideTheBox, our Fortnite brand. We spend hours, days, weeks, grinding in Fortnite making these maps, perfecting them along the way. Somehow I have fallen in love with these maps, to see something YOU created and now others across the world can enjoy is a real treat. We also joined a group called Fortnite Creative Headquarters (FCHQ), which is a website were creative maps are cataloged and promoted for users to find new and exciting maps. The best thing about FCHQ is the community, where others volunteer their time to test your maps and give feedback on how to improve them, which is so valuable! My only beef with this whole program is that players cannot leave feedback or contact you to let you know how your map was or how to make it better. Fortnite makes it kind of difficult to get any feedback to better your maps to where all players can get the benefits of a great map.
So between Fortnite and college, I am very busy. I love to see my wife’s visions come to life through these maps, and the problem solving that is needed to make all these behind the scene devices work, really has been challenging and rewarding.
If anyone reading this plays Fortnite, I would love it if you could check out our maps. It has been a labor of love and we want to see others have fun with our creations. We would also love feedback if you play them. Invite a bunch of friends and try them out, we think they are great!
